Before joining Bell Park Kerridge, I was in school and about to finish my GCSEs. I hadn’t really thought about what I wanted to do but I knew I didn’t want to stay on and do A-Levels. That had never appealed to me.
So, instead, I looked into doing an apprenticeship as it would allow me to learn and develop new skills while using them in a practical manner. I applied for an apprenticeship through Gen2 and, when the opportunity arose to join Bell Park Kerridge despite having no prior experience, I leapt at it.
And I didn’t regret it. It was a big change and the pace of things was very different to what I’d been used to – but I loved it. I wanted to challenge myself more than I’d ever done before.
After just a few weeks, I was told there was a vacancy in the accounts department. I was offered the chance to switch my role and work within accounts but also to continue with my business administration apprenticeship as well. The only change would be that my training would be based around accounts instead.
I accepted the role and am now the Accounts Assistant, learning new skills constantly. It’s shown me there are opportunities to progress my career further with BPK and I’ve got all the support from colleagues at all levels to help me if I need something. It’s a great place to work and to develop your career. I’ve never looked back.
