DUNCAN CARTER, LL.B, TEP

Specialist areas: Commercial property and transactions, high-value residential property transactions
Duncan began his career with local firm Crutes in 1994, qualifying as a Solicitor in 1996. In 2000, he moved to join Bell Park Kerridge with the three founding partners, including his fellow Director James Bell. He became a Director himself in 2005 and combines his client work with helping James with the day-to-day management of BPK.
Although he has worked across a number of Legal areas in his career, he specialises in commercial property matters ensuring commercial property transactions run smoothly as well as handling other matters including development, commercial sales and purchases, commercial leases acting for landlords and tenants and high value and complex residential property matters.
Duncan has a reputation for common sense and for offering pragmatic advice to his clients, who see him as a problem solver rather than a problem finder. Many of his clients return time and time again to instruct him and he has numerous long-standing relationships which he has maintained for many years, some from much earlier in his career.
Away from work, you’ll find Duncan on the golf course – he’s been a member of Carlisle Golf Club since his schooldays – or indulging his love of fell-walking in the Lake District with his family. His other love is music. He has an ever-growing record collection and is a regular gig attender at venues in Carlisle, the UK and even abroad. His favourite gig ever was seeing Depeche Mode in Rome in 2023.
